π¨ Trade Update: HPE β Both Price Targets Hit β β
We recommended Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company (NYSE: HPE) on July 15, 2026, at a buy level of $50.20, with price targets of $62.00 (PT1) and $72.00 (PT2) and a stop-loss at $43.50 on a closing basis.
Both targets have been achieved β the stock touched an intraday high of $72.40, crossing our PT2 of $72.00, before pulling back to close at $71.00 β delivering gains of approximately 24% and 43% from the entry level in under three months.
How to manage the position from here: Traders with a conservative risk appetite may consider booking profits at current levels. Those looking to ride the remaining momentum can continue holding with a trailing stop at $62.00 (our PT1), locking in a minimum ~24% gain while leaving room for further upside.
Bottom line: Both targets hit in under three months β book profits or trail your stop to $62.00 and let the rest run. And now, on to today’s featured setupβ¦
We flagged Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR) in our breakout watchlist back in August β and the stock has since broken out of a nearly yearlong symmetrical triangle and looks headed even higher.
As we’ll get to just ahead, the combination of a high-profile Wall Street upgrade, blistering business growth paired with sharply higher company forecasts, and a fresh technical breakout makes PLTR one of the more interesting setups on the board. Here’s what’s going onβ¦
The Themes Behind the Move
Palantir Technologies is a U.S.-based software company that builds data-analytics and artificial intelligence platforms for governments and large enterprises β including Gotham (its defense and intelligence platform), Foundry (a central operating system for an organization’s data), Apollo (which delivers software and updates to virtually any environment), and its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP), which connects large language models to an organization’s own data and workflows.
In plain English, when a military commander needs to pull sensor feeds, intelligence reports, and battlefield data into one picture to make a fast decision β or when a large company wants to put AI to work on its own proprietary data rather than a generic chatbot β Palantir is one of the first names on the call sheet. Its business hinges on U.S. government and defense spending, how quickly commercial customers move AI projects from pilot to production, and rising demand for “sovereign AI” β AI systems that governments and companies run under their own control, with data, infrastructure, and models kept local.
PLTR’s latest move reflects a powerful confluence of developments β analyst, commercial, and operational β that have come together in rapid succession to reinforce the company’s near-term growth trajectory.
| Theme / Catalyst | What Happened | Why Traders Care |
|---|---|---|
| Goldman Sachs upgrade to Buy | On October 8, 2026, Goldman Sachs analyst Gabriela Borges upgraded PLTR from Neutral to Buy with a $230 price target. The thesis: Palantir’s addressable market is broadening beyond traditional government and defense work as governments and enterprises increasingly want sovereign, private AI β bespoke applications and systems where data, infrastructure, and model control remain local. PLTR closed the session at $198.78 (+2.40%), leaving the Goldman target about 16% above that close. | A Neutral-to-Buy flip from a Tier-1 bank moves a previously cautious voice into the bull camp just as the stock approaches its record high. Goldman also singled out Palantir’s forward-deployed engineering model (engineers embedded directly with customers) and its Ontology-based approach (a framework that maps an organization’s data to real-world objects and decisions) as advantages in turning AI projects into actual operational deployments. |
| Sovereign-AI ecosystem + U.S. Army TITAN production role | Palantir has been rapidly building out the ecosystem around its sovereign-AI thesis, with recent announcements including Nebius (Sept. 8) for sovereign-AI infrastructure, NVIDIA (Sept. 10) around AI across critical supply chains, and Armada (Oct. 1) to accelerate sovereign-AI deployments β plus alliances with PwC and Fujitsu to broaden implementation capacity. On the defense side, Palantir’s production role in the U.S. Army’s Tactical Intelligence Targeting Access Node (TITAN) program was announced in early September β eight AI-enabled intelligence/targeting systems, with combined Palantir/Anduril awards of about $192M and roughly $127M attributable to Palantir. | The partnerships give Palantir the infrastructure and implementation muscle to capture AI workloads that governments and enterprises don’t want placed entirely in public AI ecosystems. TITAN’s initial dollar value is modest against an ~$8.15B full-year revenue guide, but potential FY2027 follow-on orders create optionality β and successful delivery embeds Palantir deeper inside battlefield intelligence and targeting workflows. |
| Sector tailwinds | The AI trade is shifting from generic chatbot adoption toward enterprise and sovereign AI connected directly to proprietary data, workflows, and mission-critical systems β alongside continued defense modernization and government AI spending. Palantir’s Q2 results show both channels firing at once, with U.S. commercial revenue up +149% and U.S. government revenue up +90%. | Palantir sits at the intersection of two of the market’s most durable spending themes. Having both commercial and government demand accelerating at the same time diversifies the growth engine β the company isn’t dependent on a single budget cycle or a single customer type to keep compounding. |
| Q2 hyper-growth + raised FY26 guidance | On August 3, 2026, Palantir reported Q2 revenue of $1.935B (+93% YoY), total U.S. revenue of $1.573B (+115%), total contract value booked of $3.373B (+49%), adjusted operating income of $1.194B (an ~62% adjusted operating margin), and GAAP operating income of $912M. Management raised FY2026 revenue guidance to $8.150Bβ$8.158B, U.S. commercial revenue to more than $3.424B, adjusted operating income to $4.889Bβ$4.897B, and adjusted free cash flow to $4.5Bβ$4.7B. Q3 revenue guidance is $2.160Bβ$2.164B. | Growth near 93% paired with ~62% adjusted operating margins is a rare combination at this scale β and it’s the main fundamental support for PLTR’s premium valuation. A $4.5Bβ$4.7B adjusted free cash flow outlook also means the growth is funded internally rather than by outside capital. |
| Analyst coverage | Among the 24 analysts covering PLTR over the last three months, the average twelve-month price target sits at $208.29, with a high target of $265.00 β implying roughly 33% upside from current levels at the top end. Recent actions skew bullish: Goldman Sachs upgraded to Buy at $230 (Oct. 8), UBS raised its target from $220 to $250 (Sept. 15), D.A. Davidson raised from $200 to $250 (Sept. 11), and Rosenblatt reaffirmed Buy at $225 (Sept. 23). One counter-signal: Zacks Research downgraded the stock from Strong Buy to Hold on Oct. 6. | Individual bull targets now cluster around $225β$250, well above the ~$208 aggregate average β sentiment momentum is running ahead of the consensus. If fundamentals keep delivering, that gap sets the stage for further target raises as the broader coverage universe catches up. |
| Market conviction signal | On Oct. 8, PLTR gapped up to open at $199.00 after a two-week retest held the $191β$193 breakout zone. Options turnover was strongly call-heavy, with 488,308 calls vs. 221,090 puts β a 2.21x call/put volume ratio β and notable concentrations in the Oct. 16 $200/$205/$210 calls. | A clean retest followed by a gap-up, alongside call-heavy options flow, suggests traders are positioning for a test of β and potential break above β the record high. Options activity alone doesn’t prove fresh institutional buying (some trades may be hedges or closing positions), but combined with positive price action and analyst upgrades, it supports a bullish near-term read. |
| Upcoming triggers | Traders are watching the Oct. 16 weekly options expiration (with activity concentrated around the $200β$210 calls), a decisive test of the $207.52 52-week high, and Q3 earnings in early November β third-party calendars cite Nov. 2 and Nov. 9, but Palantir has not yet confirmed the date. The bar is beating the $2.160Bβ$2.164B Q3 guide and raising full-year expectations again. Further out: potential FY2027 TITAN follow-on orders and conversion of sovereign-AI partnerships into recurring revenue. | A staggered set of catalysts β near-term options positioning, a record-high breakout test, and a high-stakes earnings report β each capable of moving the stock over the coming weeks, with longer-dated defense and partnership upside lined up behind them. |

Put it all together, and PLTR is looking less like an expensive AI momentum name running on hype and more like a hyper-growth, highly profitable software franchise with a fresh Tier-1 upgrade, an expanding sovereign-AI ecosystem, deepening defense penetration, and a high-stakes earnings report on deck.
The story is getting stronger, but the chart is what could determine whether this move has more room to run in the near term. Here are the bullish technical signals traders should be watching now.
Bullish Technical Signals
#1 Symmetrical Triangle Pattern Breakout: PLTR has broken out of a large symmetrical triangle on the daily chart (marked in purple). The upper trendline runs down from the November 2025 peak near $207, and the lower trendline rises from the late-June low near $107. Nearly a year of lower highs and higher lows squeezed price into a tight coil, and it has resolved upward, in the direction of the stock’s multi-year trend. The order of events is what makes this breakout credible. Price cleared the upper trendline in late September, then held just above it for about two weeks β a successful retest that turned former resistance in the $191β$193 zone into support. Thursday’s session pushed the move further: PLTR gapped up to open at $199.00 and closed at $198.78 (+2.40%). Two caveats are worth naming. Breakout volume has been steady rather than explosive, well below the August surge. And the long upper wick to $204.44 shows sellers defending the $208 zone, the late-2025 record high. That is exactly why $208.00 is the breakout trigger: a close above it clears the last major horizontal barrier and puts the stock in price discovery.
PLTR β Daily Chart
#2 Price Above 50-MA and 200-MA: PLTR closed comfortably above both its 50-day SMA ($175.24) and its 200-day SMA ($152.26). The 50-day crossed above the 200-day in early September β a golden cross β and has steepened sharply since. Meanwhile, the 200-day has flattened after drifting lower through mid-2026, so the intermediate trend is now pulling the long-term trend along behind it. The 50-day has also tracked the triangle’s rising lower trendline closely, so two independent support measures are reinforcing each other. The tension here is extension. After the gap-up, price sits roughly 13% above the 50-day and about 30% above the 200-day, which is why the pullback entry near $193.00, in the retest zone, offers the cleaner risk profile. Support is layered beneath that: the breakout zone first, the rising 50-day next, and the 200-day as the deep structural backstop.
#3 Bullish ADX and DI: The directional read is lopsided in the bulls’ favor. The +DI at 36.76 sits more than 25 points above the βDI at 11.39, and the βDI has been sliding steadily since mid-September. That tells you sellers have lost not just control but participation. The ADX at 35.61 is the more telling line. It sits between the two DI lines, has hooked up sharply from a trough in the low 20s during the September consolidation, and is now closing in on the +DI. This is the second leg of the trend. ADX peaked in the 40s after the August surge, reset while price consolidated, and is re-accelerating as the breakout develops. A trend that re-energizes after a reset is healthier than one that never pauses. One thing to watch: readings above 40 can start to signal a maturing move. At 35.61 and still climbing, though, the ADX confirms a strong trend rather than an exhausted one, and it lines up with the triangle breakout.
#4 Bullish Aroon: The Aroon is at its most extreme bullish setting: Aroon Up at 100% and Aroon Down at 0%, the widest spread the indicator can show. Aroon Up at 100 means PLTR set a fresh 14-day high in the latest session. Aroon Down at 0 means the most recent 14-day low is a full lookback period in the past. The handoff has been clean. Aroon Down fell from above 80 in mid-September as the triangle retest held, while Aroon Up has stayed in the 70β100 band since late September. Aroon and ADX measure different things: Aroon tracks how recently the stock has made new highs, while ADX measures how hard the trend is pushing. Both are pointing the same direction. Together they describe a stock that keeps setting new highs with strengthening trend force behind it, which is the profile you want ahead of a test of $208.
#5 Flag Pattern Breakout with Price Above 50-MA and 200-MA: The weekly chart shows a classic bull flag. The pole is the powerful advance from near $20 in mid-2024 to the ~$207 peak in late 2025. The flag is the roughly eight-month, downward-sloping channel (marked in pink) that bottomed near $107 in June 2026. PLTR broke out of the flag in August with a forceful weekly candle and a visible jump in volume. It then pulled back to the upper flag boundary near $170 and held β a textbook retest that confirmed the breakout. Price has climbed steadily since and now presses toward $200. The breakout also reclaimed the 50-week SMA ($156.41), which price had stayed below for much of the flag, while the rising 200-week SMA ($78.87) shows the long-term uptrend never broke. One honest note: this flag retraced roughly half the pole, which is deep by textbook standards. The decisive breakout and successful retest, however, confirm the correction was digesting the prior run rather than reversing it. When the daily triangle and the weekly flag both resolve upward, the signal carries more weight than either would alone.
PLTR β Weekly Chart
#6 Bullish MACD: On the weekly chart, the MACD line (12.32) is well above its signal line (6.81), with the histogram reading 5.51. The crossover fired in late July from below zero, and the MACD line pushed through zero in August alongside the flag breakout. That sequence confirmed momentum had flipped from correction mode to trend mode. The more useful detail is the histogram. It expanded through August, narrowed during the September consolidation without ever turning negative, and is now widening again. In other words, momentum paused but did not break, and it is re-accelerating as price pushes higher. There is also headroom. The MACD peaked above 20 during the 2025 advance, so today’s reading is roughly half that extreme. Weekly crossovers are slower and rarer than daily ones, which makes this confirmation especially meaningful.
#7 Bullish RSI: The weekly RSI reads 65.20 and sits above its signal average at 56.53, a two-part bullish signal. Through the first half of 2026, while the flag was forming, RSI was stuck in the 40s and briefly dipped below 40, which is typical of a correction. In August it jumped decisively through 50 with the breakout, has held above 60 since, and is rising again. That marks a clear handoff of momentum to buyers, and the upturn in the signal average shows the shift is lasting. Runway is the nuance: at 65.20, RSI sits about five points below the 70 overbought line. History matters here, though. During the 2024β25 advance, PLTR’s weekly RSI stayed between 60 and 85 for months at a time, so a push above 70 would fit a strong-trend regime rather than signal exhaustion. A pullback toward $193.00 would let RSI cool off without damaging the trend.
Risks to Consider
Even strong setups can fail, especially in a high-multiple AI software name like Palantir. A few things could knock the stock off course:
- A breakdown back below the symmetrical triangle β and the $191β$193 retest zone β on heavy volume would invalidate the breakout thesis, and a failure to clear the $208 record-high zone would leave the stock range-bound
- Negative company-specific news, broader market weakness, or regulatory changes in the sector β PLTR trades like a long-duration AI growth asset, so higher bond yields or a broad AI valuation reset could pressure the stock even without a deterioration in operating results
- Extreme valuation and expectations β with the stock near its annual high, another large beat-and-raise may already be priced in, and merely meeting the $2.160Bβ$2.164B Q3 revenue guide could disappoint
- Public-sector adoption and political risk β the Financial Times reported on Oct. 3 that more than 20 NHS trusts had stopped using Palantir’s waiting-list tools, raising questions about the effectiveness and political acceptance of certain UK deployments
- Competition and contract-loss risk β a reported 12-year, $875 million FAA flow-management award went to Air Space Intelligence rather than Palantir, a reminder that heavy government exposure cuts both ways
- Partnership monetization risk β sovereign-AI infrastructure and consulting alliances strengthen strategic positioning, but they don’t automatically translate into material recurring revenue; adoption and contract economics still have to follow
- Options-flow interpretation risk β heavy call activity can look bullish, but it doesn’t establish directional institutional buying, since some trades may be hedges, spreads, or closing positions
- Limited consensus upside β the average analyst target of $208.29 sits only about 5% above the last close, and Zacks Research’s recent downgrade to Hold shows not every voice is turning more bullish
The Bottom Line
PLTR is breaking out of a nearly yearlong symmetrical triangle on the daily chart while also clearing a multi-month bull flag on the weekly β a dual-timeframe technical setup that historically signals the start of a sustained move higher.
The fundamental story underneath the chart is just as strong: a Goldman Sachs upgrade to Buy with a $230 target, Q2 revenue up 93% year over year to $1.935 billion, and raised FY2026 revenue guidance of $8.150Bβ$8.158B.
Combine that with multiple catalysts staggered through the rest of 2026 and into 2027 β the Oct. 16 options expiration, a test of the $207.52 52-week high, Q3 earnings in early November, the expanding sovereign-AI partnership ecosystem, and potential FY2027 TITAN follow-on orders β and PLTR looks like one of the more compelling risk-reward setups on the board right now.
If this is a trade you want to get in on, here’s how we’d play it. Below you’ll find our two entry options β a breakout entry and a pullback entry β along with both price targets that imply 15%β35% potential upside, and the stop-losses we’re using to manage the downside.
Recommended Trade Setup
We’re offering two ways to play this setup. Case 1 is for traders who want confirmation β it only triggers if PLTR clears the $208.00 record-high zone. Case 2 is for traders who’d rather buy a dip into the $193.00 retest zone, which offers a cleaner risk profile β though that entry may never come if the stock keeps running.
Case 1: On Breakout
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Buy Level | Above approximately $208.00 |
| Price Target 1 | $240.00 β Potential upside: 15% |
| Price Target 2 | $260.00 β Potential upside: 25% |
| Timeframe | Next 3β6 months |
| Stop-Loss | $191.00 on a closing basis |
| Trade Invalidation | Void if price hits stop-loss before entry triggers |
If needed, swipe or scroll sideways to view the full table.
For a risk of approximately $17.00 per share, the target rewards are about $32.00 and $52.00 per share. That makes this roughly a 1:2 and 1:3 risk-reward trade. In other words, the setup offers nearly 2x to 3x more potential upside than downside.
Note on Trade Invalidation: This recommendation stays active as long as the technical structure holds. If PLTR drops to or below the $191.00 stop-loss before the $208.00 entry triggers, the trade is automatically void β the support underpinning the thesis would have broken, and the risk-reward setup would no longer justify entry.
Case 2: On Pullback
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Buy Level | On pullback to approximately $193.00 |
| Price Target 1 | $240.00 β Potential upside: 24% |
| Price Target 2 | $260.00 β Potential upside: 35% |
| Timeframe | Next 3β6 months |
| Stop-Loss | $172.00 on a closing basis |
If needed, swipe or scroll sideways to view the full table.
For a risk of approximately $21.00 per share, the target rewards are about $47.00 and $67.00 per share. That makes this roughly a 1:2 and 1:3 risk-reward trade. In other words, the setup offers nearly 2x to 3x more potential upside than downside.
Happy Trading!

π₯ Almost Made the Cut
Today’s featured trade, Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR), was our top pick of several breakout candidates we evaluated. The following two stocks were strong candidates that made it to the final round β they came up just short of the top spot, but remain on our watchlist and could be featured soon:
GlobalFoundries Inc. (NASDAQ: GFS) β The specialty chipmaker just signed a five-year, $2 billion agreement to supply TSMC’s advanced chip-packaging ecosystem with U.S.-made components, capping a run of AI-related wins with Marvell, Monolithic Power Systems, and Xanadu while its communications and data-center revenue grows more than 60%. Volume production doesn’t ramp until 2028 and the chart is still repairing after a steep correction from its May highs β but a reclaim of the low $50s and its 200-day average near $54.50 ahead of November 4 earnings would put it back in contention.
American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (NYSE: AEO) β Aerie and OFFLINE are powering the story, with revenue up 25% and comparable sales up 19% last quarter, and management guiding for high-teens to roughly 20% comps this quarter. A one-time tariff refund flattered last quarter’s profit beat and the core American Eagle brand remains flat β but a breakout above the top of its range near $18.70β$19.00, followed by a clean early-December earnings report, would strengthen the bullish case.
